Are you Ready to Follow your Dreams?
HOw apt. Chanced upon an article 'the ridge- a nussu publication' talking about dreams. Here's an excerpt.

"I have a friend who wants to be a doctor. Intelligent and well-liked, mainly because of his friendly demeanour and amicable nature, this young man recently nailed an SAF scholarship to study Medicine in NUS. It looks like he is all set to achieve his goal. I asked him one day, why he wants to be a doctor? Was he inspired by the life-savers he has seen on television, or was he in awe of the revolutionary physicians that he read about in the papers? HIs answer took me by surprise: he actually wanted to be a professional tennis player, but his parents felt that the path he is on is the best one for him...."

Wow... Wonder who is that fellow colleague? Really would like to meet him to know how he copes with the stress and workload when his chosen path doesn't follow his dream. I can relate a little to him.

I finally remembered my dream! To be a travelling doctor. One who is able to see the world and goes around healing the sick. However, the path I've chosen can be justified by other less noble reasons. Well.. I need to consider the burden on my parents so I accepted the scholarship to ease one child off my poor dad's shoulders. So now.. it's three other children to support through uni. Next it's for the money.. leading my present life requires cash. Going out as frequent as I am doing now, hanging out with different friends certainly requires money. Guess my friends are all rich cos somehow they seem to be able to live the same or more lavish lifestyles than I do. Actually, the scholarship is no big deal cos there are many other more deserving people who declined it cos they would not want to sell their lives to the army. I see it as a way to survive for now.. and hopefully, through it I'll be able to live out my dream.

To see the world and heal the sick.

Sounds good eh? Haha... well just need to get it into my head so that it can motivate me to study harder. Study!
How Long More?
Wake me up when it's over.
Sometimes i wish there was more encouragement and concern than throwing me straight down to the brutal reality.

Dreams
Holding conversations with Y has always been thought provoking. Things which make you wanna pause, reflect and express your views.

"What is your Dream?"
"To try not to be a screwed up doctor.."
"That is not a Dream... that's a goal... a Dream is different."

What is a Dream?
The dictionary says,
1.A wild fancy or hope
2.Condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration

Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech on equality for blacks has spurred the civil rights movement in the United States. His people shared his views and through his charismatic speech, he inspired them to fight for their rights. Such that, now his dream can be almost said to be a reality. What powerful consequences someone's dream can have.

Dreams are things that you want in your life, what you truly love to do, your calling. Without dreams, your life would be a stand still, stagnant and dull. Dreams often push people beyond limits, as seen in mountaineer David Lim, who struggled to recover from a debilitating nervous disorder to resume mountain climbing as a partially disabled individual.

When you were young, have you ever been asked what is your dream? "I dream for world peace"; "I dream for a clean and green earth"; "I dream to be an astronaut!", are answers often heard from little young ones. Well.. mine was to be a pilot or a doctor.

So to be a doctor was a dream then and now it isn't? Just cos I'm in medical school now and it is soon to become reality so that is not considered a dream? Well... I guess to me it is no longer a dream cos it is not a wild fancy nor is it a powerful motivating factor in my life anymore. What is my dream then? To save countless people's lives? Or to have a comfortable happy family, with wonderful Mrs Diane Doctor, sweet Ms Daisy Doctor and sporty Master Dylan Doctor? I guess I'll have to come up with something to steer my life in the right direction.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?
Pursue your passion, Follow your dreams.

I miss you like the sky misses the birds
I miss you like a song without the words
And everyday away from you it hurts
Cuz I'm missing you like crazy
I miss you like the sun misses the day
I need you like the desert that needs the rain
And baby it's driving me insane
Cuz I'm missing you like crazy
I'm missing you like crazy

I'm dying! thought i can finish upper and lower limb in a day. but as of 12.18 am the next day, i'm still at upper limb. dunno what am i to do... if anyone has a way to remember stuff easily, anyway, anything, i'm willing to try! so worried about not being able to finish. trying to destress by blogging now.

i'm beginning to like church more. yesterday at youth fellowship, got to know a few more people and had a nice chat with them about selling my 12 years of my life to the army. however, my ailing memory is failing to allow me remember their names even after they've told me a dozen times. so far, i only remember sujun lao shi, jun neng, randy, david, ci en, yu en, trevor, velda and abigail. the rest... i'm still trying very hard!

today, cow's mum bought me another book! today is library Lord's day so the sermon was all about the benefits of reading. when i went with her to browse at the recommended books sold at the canteen, she purchased one of them on the spot and gave it to me! i was shocked once again! she has pulled this stunt on me twice already! but wow.. thanks aunty!
then as we sat in the canteen drinking our beverages, one lady came up and commented, "wah, this is your son ah?" she jokingly replied, "ya this is my half son." shocked me once again! luckily, i swallowed my coffee or i would have spitted out at the old lady in front of me. hahaha... oh man... enough surprises for today. if i'm cow's mum half son, then i'm cow's half brother which means i'm a half cow? i maybe born in yr of ox and am a taurus, but i definitely do not wanna be a half cow. hahaha... but then again, since aunty and uncle are so nice... i don't mind being their half son! hahahah...

hey everyone go watch russell peters videos online. he's an indian stand up comedian who cracks racist jokes about blacks (jamaicans),yellows (chinese), whites(canadians) and browns(himself). basically everyone la! i've one video of him. get from me if you want.
one of my favourite parts is how do you pronounce this african name? !xobile
it's *tock* bee lay. clicking your tongue on your hard palate. how cool is that? i'll call my son *click* han.

sel> ya ya... don't worry, i'm not disappointed. however, the other guys will be... *wink* have fun in naruwan! don't eat til you explode!

bang> eh... ok i'll change vocabulary now. no more asses for me. how about bless?

koey> ya david's songs are growing on me too! initially thought they weren't so good. i like catherine, ai wo hai shi ta, jiu shi ai ni and sweet hour of prayer. but there are crappy songs too like sula and lampa? what crappy names for fictitious characters! sounds a little vulgar too. don't really like ghost as well.

ok online tutorial for putting up songs on blogs.
*first you have to upload your song online. i use geocities. but you can use any other website that allows to put up files online. the only downside to geocities is there is limited bandwidth, so when too many people have gone to your blog others can't listen to the song for the rest of the day.
*after you've uploaded your song, click on it and copy the address.
*go to your template, insert this- EMBED src= "http://youraddresshere.mp3" width=25 height=25
autostart=true (enclose the above insert with <>)
*you can make it play over and over again by inserting loop=true after the autostart=true
*or hide the player by inserting hidden=true
so now you have your own music on your blog!

oh no... wasted day. was awaken by my mum's phone call at nine thirty. my mum will be bringing my aunt and cousin who just returned from canada to my room in 10 min! whoa... couldn't show them a dirty room right? jumped out of bed... brushed teeth and tried to clean up a little. then the phone rang again.... oh no... can't do much now... have to pick them up from the carpark. so i picked them up and gave my aunt a hug.. oh my! haven't seen her for so long and she has adopted an ah soh prc straight hair!! kept my comments to myself though... couldn't be rude to my senior right? hahaha... sigh in the end they helped me vacuumed and mopped my room.

kept falling asleep in the library. so i went home and watched the oc dvd hanboon lent me. oh man... they are addictive! told myself i'd watch only 1 episode ended up watching 5 in a row! n still have more than 20 more to go. i think i better hide them so i'll only watch them after pros. rich kids exciting life babes hunks. sounds too good to be true eh? wonder if there is really such a county.

oh man... my ex indian wife has rejected our invitation to go on our diving trip! she has decided to go with the honeys and toe to taiwan. even after half an hour of begging, cajoling, reverse psychology, self pity, she still decides to go with the girls. sorry guys... you all are not hunk enough. she didn't even think twice on making up her mind. better up your hunk factor by learning more dishes, be more gentlemanly, learn smooth talking and have cooler attitude. hold more food parties! so with no da sao or girls coming along, i quote her 'we'll be having unadulterated boy fun!'

rj>eh.. i was trying to save your face... why you shoot yourself in the ass?

bang>whoa finally you can! so your comp decided to upgrade itself ah?

zy>cos u were bloated with beer! not drinking ended up drinking the most...

liana>oh ya.. maybe we can hold the next potluck at your place! jade!~

lynn>ya we missed you! we were saying oh man.. we need lynn! she'll help us wipe the food up!

gals... eligible bachelors who can cook!!! do consider them!
nagging headache. so no mood to blog.

but just wanna say that i'm impressed by the food party at renjun's! din know it's a potluck session... so i turned up with no food but a bottle of thai rum called similan. in the end, there was too much food! typical chinese mentality. always get more food than necessary. got to say that i'm rather useless... the guys all can cook except me! no wonder they are attached and i'm not eh? so i better go learn a few dishes from my mama so that i can impress the girls! hahaha...

the entire party just reminded me of shows i see where a group of friends gather for a fabulous meal at someone's house, something like in naked chef. friends bring bottles of wine then chit chat, exchange tips on cooking, have a good meal and decide on the person who will whip up the next meal. wow... and we're actually doing it now! now... we have 2 da sao's already. the next time, will i have da saos for all of my buddies? hopefully so...

jasper, hunky, renjun and zhongyang. jia you!!! hopefully i'll see more da saos the next time.

chefs:
jasper-popiah
renjun-mozzarella cheese sausage, barbequed smoky mushroom and onion soup
zhongyang-fried rice
dickson-some italian tomato and foccacia bread
rachel-potato salad
jianbang-longan beancurd
amanda-roast chicken
yijun-cheese cake

last pbl!

last pbl!

finally! we've finished our last pbl. after so much changing and waiting and raging angers, we've gone thru a rather crappy pbl. the dr actually forgot about our lesson so he came in not knowing how pbl is conducted and what the case was about. oh well... we did go thru some physiology regarding kidney and heart and it was over! not that pbl is very lousy, it's just that holding it at alexandra hospital was an absolute disaster due to admin problems. well that's over... and hopefully that is the last of sabrinah the secretary witch.

the seminar room was like a fully equipped house. really nice place! sofas.. an entire kitchen, nice ass washing toilet bowls, waiting high chairs outside the toilet and computer room. it looked so comfortable that isaac went ransacking the kitchen and made himself a nice mug of coffee. only that it belonged to the cleaning lady! n she was unhappy that some crappy pseudo angmoh who can't spk mandarin for nuts stole her coffee! isaac then used his halting mandarin and replied.. i only took one sip, you may have it back! if i was the aunty i'd have slapped him that smuck ass.

so while waiting for the dr (he was forty five min late i think), we played pepsi cola at the large carpetted area. wah... the last time i played was maybe pri sch? so the only ones who had an actual childhood played(daniel, wayne, isaac and i). the rest just sat and watched. sigh.. anyway.. we came up with so many stances whether attacking or defending. isaac had the flying helicopter kicks, daniel had the clamping leg technique, wayne and his si jiao cao tian(4 limbs in the sky) defense move and me with eagle spreads his wings defense. haha.. shit man. really damn fun!

ended off with taupoking chris ho. don't you see chris ho so fair and flabby, easily bullied. oh man... he still has his canoeist genes in him. bloody strong! i was supposed to pin him down but he immediately went into fetal position so in the end i held the most weight from the taupoking. wah... looks like he had lotsa experience. must have been taupoked lotsa times in canoeing last time... know how to defend against already. nvm... next time we'll get jianhong to pin you down!

ok ended off the day with dinner. the food was ok la. got a good laugh from 'dunno how to tie hair's' uniform and the photo in the digicam. felt damn stupid cos i suddenly cannot remember lotsa stuff and just forgot how to put what i want to say into words. there's just something wrong with me. totally screwed up. well just blame it on head trauma from rugby then :) . early alzheimer's? shit man.. touch wood.

tmr's play day! soccer then party at renjun's! so must have late night tonight. going to jog then finish up protein metab now! pls scold me if i didn't finish protein.
Wa Jie by Jay Chou
heard the song at my ushering event. it's really very nice! but too bad the lyrics are too chim for me to remember. Uploaded the jay chou version just for you. so click on the link just below sweet hour of prayer and go file>save as.. to save it into your com!

i'm dumbo the sniffling elephant. my nose feels so ticklish that it's as if i've a feather up my nose. the ticklish sensation is going up the nasolacrimal duct and smarting my eyes too! now.. i just wanna chop off my nose to tear out the 3 concha!

Paulaner's n Prego

0.5l of good stuff man. although it contributes to my round belly, it was quite good. got a little light headed and crazy. but from my craziness, i started a string of conversation which was eye opening. sigh... i'm the only one left. but it's ok... not too worried!

thanks lynn for the prego's lobang man. cos we took a trip down tonight and got ourselves a bunch of goodies. you are officially my makan informer! while waiting in line to buy the pastries, charming yau hong struck up a conversation with an indian lady and her family. their family is like those high class rich kind, so to go up to their level, hunky enunciated every word so well and spoke so perfectly! hahaha... the conversation was the funniest. the indian family and all of us began suaning bang about being so sweet and nice to his gf and how we should all learn from him. hahaha... ya i think we really should! wish i had someone who does nice stuff for me too. :)

can't wait for wed! jasper remember to bring howl's moving castle besides your bang guang!

shall add chatterbox with tag board. wanna see which one is better. although tag board failed me the whole of last week, it has been quite faithful and useful on the job. so i shall not reject it totally cos of a minor setback. chatterbox will assist tag board and i'll see which is better.

hey everybody! those who wanna get your hands on apple products esp the most coveted ipod, ipod mini and ipod shuffle, don't purchase it at the public price. go online and get it cos it's cheaper and there is free shipping and free laser engraving! tertiary students will get educational discounts when you purchase mac products. so don't be silly and pay that little bit extra. go to www.apple.com.sg then education. this is where you can purchase a 6gb mini for 400 bucks. so go think and compare prices before purchasing!

hitch was fantastic! had a good laugh. really glad that one of my few play day outings before exams turned out well. thank god! thanks for helping me not have severe diarrhea too. only mild one with a burning ass. thanks! :)

heard that genevieve saw ruien the other day, so i thought today would be a good day too, and brought along my camera so that the moment i see her i'll go ask her for a photo or no. she's so cute! jasper's linda from chase is not bad too la. huge eyes with a little ptosis. so pretty! hahaha.. ok typing this while half asleep.

so good night! need to wake up early to organise ifg touch.

tubby> no. my belly is still there cos i pigged out even though i exercised.
eternal eyes> stay in hall la. i want a different experience. stay in pgp 2 sems already! so let's go hall...

Why is Tag-Board down??? irritating.. anyone knows an alternative to tagboard?

whole body aching from gym and running. thanks jasper for the company! we should do it more often to keep fit. i'm so going to be paralysed by aches tmr. argh...
It's finally over! CAs are over. but i'm not rejoicing. am disappointed with myself actually. what happened to me? why have i allowed myself to be in this state. where is the RAFFLESIAN SPIRIT of excellence? going to an exam only knowing the tip of the iceberg of syllabus is not what makes a doctor. you'll kill patients in the future, if you can even get that far! pull up those socks of yours. Lord please let me pick up myself and catch up with my batch mates!

FLABBERGASTED
shock of my life when i saw 8.57am on my watch. rubbed my eyes... thought i was in a dream. but NO! but wait... physio starts at 10 right? then again... it's at 9am! PHYSIO PAPER STARTS AT 9!
no time! jumped out of bed. grabbed my bag, bottle, matric card, cap and jacket and rushed to the bus stop!
Good thing bus frequency is high... how i appreciate living at PGP now... so ran all the way to COFM and planted my ass on the seat at 9.10am. my brain felt numb during the entire exam. must be the shock i received the moment i woke up.

MORAL of the story: when 2 alarms don't work, set 3.
1 down. 2 more to go. managed to pass biochem by guessing and eliminating chim looking answers. well actually i think most people passed. ya n in medicine, getting a pass is no big deal when everyone's so smart. it's crazy to know the bell shaped curve for grades is shifted so right that it can't be considered bell shaped anymore. sigh... so must work harder for pros, esp when it's essay, so no more guessing!

physio is one big headache. it's really fun to learn and understand and discuss. but when so many concepts and pathways are stored in the tiny brain of mine, they somehow get amalgated. well at least it's fun! i think it's the most fun subject. doing well is another matter. so whether it's Na-K ATPase or Na- H antiport protein. i'll just leave it to God.
Received a quote from dee.

Psalms 18:2- The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.

So find solace in God! Thanks denise!

dee dee(the one who posted the tag)> hahaha... case of mistaken identity! dee dee was meant to be denise. so i've 2 dee dees now? i think u just be hot spots la k? hahaha...

toe> so confident of physio eh? spent the whole afternoon online. hahaha... get back to work han sis!~

hb> just go view my source then put in your template. the song must be uploaded online first though. i use geocities to upload mine. sigh... can't listen to the song now. bandwidth taken up....
